These are some scriptures that find for you comfort in your soul. Jesus healed the souls that longed for it through His comforting words. These words are spoken for the same purpose through Jesus.

Psalms 16
10 For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption. Have you seen people with various torments? They lack Christ.
11 You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for ever more. Christ leads people to grasslands to rest and feed (John 10:9).

Psalms 23
3 He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Jesus will lead you for His name sake. His name has got power.
4 Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. Do you confront evil everyday. Are there people perishing around you? Is there gloom and darkness prevailing over your life? The knowledge of the word of God is the key.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Psalms 24

Psalms 25
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in you.

Psalms 31
7 I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy: for you have considered my trouble; you have known my soul in adversities;
9 Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: my eye is consumed with grief, yes, my soul and my belly.

Psalms 33
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. When others are deprived, you can still be happy.

Psalms 34
22 The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Psalms 35
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have dig for my soul.
12 They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.
17 Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.

Let the name of Jesus be glorified!

Who is Jesus ? Part 1

For the sake of new visitors and also those who would like to know Christ and the benefits through Him, this article can be useful. The aim of this article is to discuss of the achievements of Jesus on the cross.
Jesus was the son of a carpenter, Joseph and his wife Mary. Jesus was born in a simple family, which belonging to the Jewish community in the country which is now called Israel. Many of you would have heard about Jesus being born in a stable when you were in childhood and may have not known the reason why.The birth and related reasons for the birth of Jesus are to be discussed later in this topic.
Joseph was Jesus' earthly father. Jesus was not created in the earth, but was sent from Heaven to human parents. The reasons for the purpose of birth of Jesus is to 'wash away sins', is what most people say. Jesus came not only to 'wash sins', but also to offer many things to the people. The list of the things Jesus came to the earth to accomplish is given in the Bible in a book known as Isaiah. According to Isaiah 61:1, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;"
The entire list is given in verses 1-7 in the same chapter. These verses denotes Jesus and His ministry on earth. The main aspects which can be easily understood can be listed out as below:

  • to preach good tidings to the meek.
  • to bind up the brokenhearted.
  • proclaim liberty to the captives.
  • opening of the prison to those in captivity.

Now these seem to be a bit literary in representation, which actually gives a clear picture of the job of Jesus on earth. We can simplify it to make it more gettable for our understanding. Those are added in the forth coming paragraphs.

As for the personality of Jesus, the following aspects cannot be separated from His Self:

  1. Ability to preach good news.
  2. Getting the broken-hearted to be 'joined-up' or to bind them together.
  3. Set free those who have been in captivity.
  4. Liberate people from chains of bondage.

How can the above points concerning Jesus apply in our daily life? The purpose of Jesus' ministry are clearly explained.

I To preach good tidings to the meek.

The word 'gospel' means good news. There is good news for everybody which as a reader have found out. There are many people who preach the gospel in recent times, but very few are telling the entire benefits which they get by receiving the gospel in their lives. The Bible is 'good news', and every time you read it, God keeps a portion of the good things in life, for the purpose of His will be fulfilled.

You may say Jesus has done this for Christians only! Jesus came first and after that followed Christianity. Hence Jesus is bigger that Christianity, always! Jesus did not Himself term His teaching or the gospel either as 'Christianity' or a religion because of His teachings. Do not worry whether you are a Christian or not. The point is you can become one at any time you want. The time when He Himself acknowledges you to be one is called 'salvation'.

Should I have to become a Christian to receive the gospel? Jesus gave the gospel and went away to be in Heaven. He did not start a church to give lectures and sermons, start a religious movement or an organization, etc. He believed and acted upon setting people free. The Gospel itself cannot bind you or put into captivity. Jesus gave the Gospel and went away after that to be with His Father. The Giver or the Gospel did very little for the spreading of the same throughout the world, when it comes to direct physical efforts. Jesus did not go to every part of the world, with banners and speakers, telling people to listen and accept the Gospel.

II Getting the broken-hearted to be 'joined-up' or to bind them together.
Jesus healed mankind from all sickness and fears. The list is growing everyday, as the world progresses, but the cure remains the same. It is like viruses are improved everyday, so are the anti-virus software, to fight against them when it comes to computing. Jesus did not come to heal only, but to deliver them from fear. Fear is actually an emotional invitation to something unwanted. You need not be afraid for anything in the world. Fear of the LORD is enough, for every believer according to the Bible. If that is there, no other fear need to torment you. Jesus was God-conscious when He was in the world. He even prayed sometimes with others.

III Set free those who have been in captivity.
Have you seen people living in various kinds of bondages? Everything which does not allow you operate freely in Christ is bondage. Jesus did not have any bondages, nor did He asked you to love anything more in this world. I have a personal opinion of Jesus. Jesus only did what He Himself had to do in the world, and He went off on completing those tasks. I always had a thought, "Why could not Jesus stayed until He was ninety or hundred, make some big churches, go to different parts of the world, print the Bible in different languages, etc." He could have done that if He wanted to do that. He gave those jobs to His trusted fellowmen, the disciples. Jesus spend considerable time with His disciples. They ate together, went together to preach, heal the sick , cast out demons, etc. They even sailed together! How nice it would be to learn under a Master like Jesus! Hence we need not be bound by anything in this world.

IV Liberate people from chains of bondage.
The term 'prison' meant here doesn't mean physical prison. That means all jails would have been emptied after the resurrection of Jesus (resurrection is actually the process of bringing dead person to life). Like as I said above, anything that puts you in bondage is a prison. You need to break free from it. Is your boss instigating you against your wishes? Is control forces operating in any place order to receive anything from you which is against legality or lawfulness? Is sinful habits persist in you and not leaving you free? All these are symptoms of bondage.

You may ask, "Well if Jesus came to give away nice things, why had He to die for it?" This is a very good question. I once read a book in which the author said something like, "Did any other god or human die in order to achieve something for mankind?" I still cannot get a suitable reason or an answer against this claim, even when I think of it again and again. This has been accomplished by atonement (paying for misdeeds) of Christ, as this statement is true! Why did Jesus die to give away good things? Keep thinking, and I believe your prayers will be answered!
